Hoyo ICDS
The Hoyo ICDS(Intelligent Common Duct System) integrates the gas, water supply, drainage, heating, power and telecommunication network into one subterranean channel. It provides the most systematic and holistic management solution for all urban underground conduit construction requirements. As the rapid ongoing urbanization and modernization process continues it provides the most logical solution for vital elements of city support.
The system combines the many benefits of one-off investment and construction, permanent utilization, considerable reduction in waste and inconvenience, intelligent management, easy access maintenance, limitless capacity and considerable long term cost savings through integrated resources.
The conduit system contains six self-contained infrastructure systems to facilitate the installation of waste, rainwater (storm) and potable water, sewage, gas, heating, heating, electrical and telecommunication piping and cabling. These are all accommodated in a four metre wide by three metre high, steel reinforced and waterproofed concrete tunnel. This may be seen as a ‘subterranean Great Wall’ for many modern Chinese cities.
The high strength duct systerm is buried at various depths dependent upon ground conditions as required. The life expectancy of the system is at least 60 years. Future proof design has allowed additional capacity for ongoing seamless infrastructure development for at least another 50 years.
The duct system allows for ease of general and planned maintenance, providing clear and accessible access to all pipe work and cabling along its length. Access for heavylifting equipment has been provided for by the provision of crane trackways and mobile ladder access throughout the system
An advanced intelligent and automatic 24 hour monitoring system will ensure ease of service and safety of operations. Electronic sensors have been installed in the air tight gas piping and high tension electrical compartments and are controlled via a robotic monitoring system that detects leakage or cable damage. Any malfunction will be instantly identified and the local control room will be alerted immediately, allowing the swift shutting down and isolation of any defective system.
As the duct system is contained below ground level and constructed using reinforced concrete technology, the system meets and exceeds the statutory requirements as laid down by the State Authority, for defense from air attack. The system achieves a grade 6 level of protection. As required the duct system can be lined to provide safe and secure city-wide access to local air raid shelters
The conduit system has been designed to be constructed using advanced materials to protect the environment. As it is designed not to be rebuilt for at least 60 years, this will prevent ongoing disruption and environmental damage, particularly in residential areas.
The system has been designed utilizing centralized planning, construction, management and investment in order to reduce the cost of installation as much as possible. This system greatly reduces long-term costs and maintenance.

This new system removes the burden from local and central Governments to provide financing. Private capital funding will be employed for the investment, construction, operation and management of new municipal projects of this nature. The Government will retain responsibility for policy-making, coordination with the investor, and other areas of administration.
