An underground municipal utility tunnel construction model is being constructed in Nanjing. The concept is designed to include all the major utility services into one channel that is future proofed to ensure further expansion and designed to minimize disruption by eliminating the need for constant road works. This project has been fully endorsed by the National Ministry of Construction.
Up until now, the responsibility for municipal underground pipe networks has traditionally been the role of local Government using public funds. Unfortunately, due to both limitations of funding and forward planning, each department has been responsible for maintaining their own networks, each in turn excavating the roads wasting both money and time and causing unnecessary disruption. This elegant solution eliminates a major headache for both Government and citizens alike.
Recently the group self raised 110 million Yuan in order to undertake to replace a 45 kilometre stretch of the inefficient current system with a common ducting system. Incorporating foreign municipal construction experience into the overall urban construction master plan, with Government oversight, the project synchronized the construction and road disruption, in order to amalgamate all the different utility services into one intelligent common ducting system.
A ‘well’ was set up every 120 metres to allow for ease of future expansion. The ‘pipe gallery’ is constructed from high strength galvanized seamless steel pipe and PVC pipes, within which contained 36, 42 or 72 pipes, built with steel and concrete brick slot on the outside under 0.7 meters of the pavement. The gallery can easily withstand 80 tons of pressure from traffic flow.
The Group Chairman observed that, even though the demand for the communication capacity from the University only utilizes 30% of the pipelines potential, the spare capacity remains available for future expansion. In the market there is very strong competition, not only from local and national companies, but also from international or foreign companies seeking to gain greater market share. However by this time, the Hoyo group will have managed to become well established and be producing income through renting, selling or other forms of cooperation. This is known as the ‘underground revolution’ and the new intelligent common ducting system has already been installed in Jiangsu Province in Nantong, Yangzhou, Xuzhou and beyond into other Provinces. Fuzhou in Jianxi Province installed a 200 million Yuan underground pipe laying project. Also another project Northeast of Jiamusi includes the main services like water, electricity, gas, sewage, etc. in an underground Intelligent Common Ducting System.
